PAUL HUANG
Lauréat de la bourse Avery Fisher en 2015 et du prix Artiste émergent du Lincoln Center en 2017, le violoniste Paul Huang compte parmi les artistes les plus remarquables de sa génération.
The Washington Post salue chez lui « un timbre ample et savoureux, une justesse exemplaire et une technique éprouvée qui donnent aux traits les plus ardus le naturel d’une respiration », le reconnaissant comme « un artiste dont le bagage promet une carrière significative » après ses débuts en récital au Kennedy Center.
On a pu l’applaudir récemment avec le Detroit Symphony et Leonard Slatkin, le Baltimore Symphony et Markus Stenz, l’Orchestre du Théâtre Mariinsky et Valery Gergiev, l’Orchestre philharmonique de Rotterdam et Lahav Shani, ainsi qu’avec le Houston Symphony et Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Au nombre de ses engagements à venir, citons les projets qu’il partagera avec le Hiroshima Symphony et Jun Märkl, le Dallas Symphony, l’Orchestre symphonique de la NHK de Tokyo et Fabio Luisi, le Vancouver Symphony et Otto Tausk, sans oublier ses retrouvailles avec l’Orchestre symphonique national de Taïwan et Hans Graf. Fréquemment invité dans les festivals du monde entier, Paul Huang remplace au pied levé Anne-Sophie Mutter lors du Bravo! Vail Music Festival dans le Concerto pour violon n° 4 de Mozart avec le Kammerorcherster Wien-Berlin, et débute en récital sous les applaudissements de la critique aux festivals de Lucerne et d’Aspen.
À l’automne 2021, il devient le premier violoniste classique à interpréter son propre arrangement de l’hymne national pour le tournoi d’ouverture de la National Football League (Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, Caroline du nord) devant un public de 75 000 personnes. Il a inauguré en janvier 2023 la première édition du Festival international de musique de chambre Paul Huang & Friends à Taipei. Lauréat en 2011 des Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Paul Huang obtient ses diplômes de premier cycle et de master à la Juilliard School, où il a pour professeurs Hyo Kang et I-Hao Lee. Il joue le légendaire violon Guarneri del Gesù « ex-Wieniawski » de 1742 mis à sa disposition par la Société Stradivarius de Chicago. Il enseigne à l’Université nationale des arts de Taipei et réside à New York.

Recipient of a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and a 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists, violinist Paul Huang is considered to be one of the most distinctive artists of his generation.
The Washington Post remarked that he ‘possesses a big, luscious tone, spot-on intonation and a technique that makes the most punishing string phrases feel as natural as breathing’, and further proclaimed him as ‘an artist with the goods for a significant career’ following his recital debut at the Kennedy Center.
His recent appearances have included Detroit Symphony with Leonard Slatkin, Baltimore Symphony with Markus Stenz, Mariinsky Orchestra with Valery Gergiev, Rotterdam Philharmonic with Lahav Shani, and Houston Symphony with Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Forthcoming engagements will include appearances with Hiroshima Symphony with Jun Märkl, Dallas Symphony and NHK Symphony with Fabio Luisi, Vancouver Symphony with Otto Tausk, and his return to the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan with Hans Graf. A frequent guest artist at music festivals worldwide, he recently stepped in for Anne-Sophie Mutter at Bravo! Vail Music Festival playing Mozart’s Violin Concerto no.4 with Chamber Orchestra Vienna-Berlin and made recital debuts at the Lucerne Festival and Aspen Music Festival, all to critical acclaim.
In Fall 2021, Paul Huang also became the first classical violinist to perform his own arrangement of the US National Anthem for the opening game of the NFL at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina to an audience of 75,000. In January 2023, he launched the first edition of Paul Huang & Friends International Chamber Music Festival in Taipei, Taiwan. Winner of the 2011 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, Paul Huang earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Juilliard School where he studied with Hyo Kang and I-Hao Lee. He plays on the legendary 1742 ex-Wieniawski Guarneri del Gesù on loan through the Stradivari Society of Chicago. He is on the faculty of Taipei National University of the Arts and resides in New York.
