Ismaël Margain naît en 1992 à Sarlat, où il entame sa formation musicale: piano, flûte, saxophone, jazz, écriture. Il rentre ensuite au Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMD) et travaille notamment avec Nicholas Angelich, Roger Muraro et Michel Dalberto.
En 2012, il est lauréat du Concours international Long-Thibaud, puis est nommé dans la catégorie Révélation Soliste instrumental aux Victoires de la musique classique. Suite à ces récompenses, il part en tournée en Amérique latine et aux États-Unis pour une série de récitals et master-classes. De retour en Europe, il se produit en Allemagne, en Suisse, en Italie, en Espagne et en Bulgarie.
Il est l’invité régulier de nombreux festivals – Pâques et Août musical à Deauville, Piano aux Jacobins à Toulouse, Nohant Festival Chopin, L’Esprit du piano à Bordeaux, Lille Piano(s) Festival, Festival de Mecklenburg-Vorpommern et Klavier Ruhr Festival en Allemagne, All About Piano à Londres. Il s’y produit en solo et en musique de chambre avec Alexandra Soumm, Renaud Capuçon, Edgar Moreau, Bertrand Chamayou, le Quatuor Hermès. À Paris, il se produit à la Salle Gaveau, à l’Auditorium du Louvre, à la Cité de la musique, au Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
Ismaël Margain est artiste associé à la Fondation Singer-Polignac, lauréat de l’Académie musicale de Villecroze et du prix de la Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe, soutenu par la Fondation Safran, la Fondation l'Or du Rhin et la Fondation Banque Populaire. En 2010, il forme un duo avec Guillaume Bellom, avec qui il enregistre deux albums consacrés à Mozart et à Schubert (ƒƒƒƒ Télérama). Il réalise également trois enregistrements live pour le label B-Records, Mendelssohn (2015), Schubert en solo (2017) et un récital à deux pianos avec Guillaume Bellom (2018).
Ismaël Margain est l’un des quatre co-fondateurs de la plateforme de concerts en streaming RecitHall inaugurée en 2020.
Le premier album de sa collaboration avec naïve, consacré à Chopin et Fauré, sortira en février 2023.

Ismaël Margain was born in 1992, in Sarlat, France, where he began his musical training in piano, flute,

In 2012, he won the Long-Thibaud international competition, and was then nominated instrumental soloist revelation of the year at the Victoires de la musique classique. After this, he toured Latin America and the USA for a series of recitals and master classes. On his return to Europe, he performed in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Bulgaria.
He is a regular guest in numerous festivals (Deauville Easter and August festivals, Piano aux Jacobins in Toulouse, Nohant Festival Chopin, L’Esprit du piano in Bordeaux, Lille Piano(s) Festival, Mecklenburg- Vorpommern Festival and Klavier Ruhr Festival in Germany, and All About Piano in London) where he performs as a soloist or in chamber music with Alexandra Soumm, Renaud Capuçon, Edgar Moreau, Bertrand Chamayou, and the Quatuor Hermès.
